Avery's First Haircut

Avery's hair was looking a little shaggy.  She had bangs hanging in her eyes and the back was growing longer than the sides so she had a mullet look going on.  Noah needed a haircut too, so I loaded all the kids up and took them for haircuts.  I was a little nervous, since this was Avery's first haircut I didn't know how it was going to go.   I figured everyone would have a meltdown and we would leave, or everyone would be fine.  I knew that she could have a sucker while her hair got cut so I was counting on that to keep her calm.

Well, she couldn't have been better.  She just sat their ate her sucker and was a very good girl.

The end of the mullet.

While her hair is shorter and may look more like a boy (her Daddy says) it was necessary until the sides catch up. I think its cute and she is still beautiful.

Cousins Visit

A few weeks ago the Duffy crew made their way down to Baton Rouge for a visit and to meet Baby Elliot.  My kids love when their cousins come visit and had a great time.  Eric and I enjoyed the visit also.  It is nice to visit with family and nice to have the cousins be playmates all weekend which keeps everyone entertained.

Eric making us Pisco Sours, a drink that he learned how to make on his visit to Chile.  While the kids were entertained and occupied the adults had some fun too.

My children were very tired, which is why Avery was sucking away and Noah was being a turd and wouldn't pose for a decent picture.  Sorry Duffy's!  Too much fun and grouchiness comes out.

Singing Kids

Noah loves the Disney cartoon "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" and Avery loves ot sing.  Together they are quite a spectacle.  I am not sure how good the sound or video quality is, but turn up your speaker and enjoy the show.

Playing with Elliot

These days when you break out an old toy, it becomes new again for Avery and Noah.  So needless to say when the old gym(which is actually brand new because the attic ruined the old one) came out Avery and  Noah had to get in with Elliot.  Poor little guy doesn't stand a chance of getting to "play" by himself.

Dancing to the Elephant

For Avery's birthday, Craka and Sissy gave her a pink elephant that blows balls out of his nose, catches them in his ear and repeats the process.  It is a semi-annoying toy that both of my kids just love.  It plays music while it performs this ball blowing task and they love to push the button and dance to it.  They will then yell "Dance Mama," "Dance Daddy"  or tell whoever is you around to dance with them. It has provided hours of entertainment and for that I am grateful.

Let's Compare

Noah- one mont- 10 lb 7 oz- 22 inches long

Avery- one month- 10 lb 10 oz -22 inches long

Elliot- one month- 11 lb 12 oz- 22 3/4 inches long.  (BIG BOY!!!)

Elliot- One Month

Elliot Joseph is already 6 weeks old.  He is a big baby and is a very sweet little man. He is my snuggler and loves to be held and cuddled.    He hardly ever makes a peep except when he is cold, wet, or gassy.  Unfortunately his gassy times come in the middle of the night, where he spends alot of his time awake.  He eats at about 8:00 and then goes to bed for the night, he wakes up at 12ish, 3ish and 6ish to eat.  This is not the problem, the problem is he doesn't go right back to sleep, or will wake up 3 times in between bottles.  he is wearing his Mommy and Daddy out.   He has 1 good night for every 2 bad. I am not giving up though.  He sleeps so well during the day that I am not convinced that he is not going to be a good sleeper.  I will figure him out.  He is just different from his brother and sister.

We went to the Dr. last week and he weighed 11 lb 13 oz, he was 22 3/4 inches long and his head was 15 3/8 inches around.  He is in size 2 diapers and most 3 month clothes.  He was in the 90-95th percentile for all of his measurements.  He is just starting to smile and be awake a little more during the day.  He still sleeps alot though and I have to wake him up to eat every 3 hours to eat his 4 oz bottle. I have found that if I feed him every three hours during the day he goes a little longer at night.

Swimming with Pawpaw

We spent the day at Baba and PawPaw's a few weeks ago and while Avery and Elliot were napping, Noah got a chance to go swimming with PawPaw.

He had to think about it for a little while.

Then he got a little braver.

And a little braver.

Even more brave still.  He got a toe in.
Finally he was in.  He was very proud of himself.

But not brave for long.  He wanted to go back to the dock after about 30 seconds.  But he repeated this process a bunch more times throughout the day.  When we went back a few weeks later, he got in again.  This time he stayed in longer and he swam by himself a little bit without having to hold onto PawPaw.  He will be a little fish before I know it.

First Bath

Well as usual, no baby likes that first bath at home.  They have to lay on the hard countertop and it is cold.  Elliot is no exception. He screamed like a banshee during the bath part, but as soon as you wrap him in that towel and snuggled him close he was quite and content as could be.

While Daddy's Home

Eric was lucky enough to spend the first week at home with us.  It was a huge help and a huge blessing.  Noah and Avery loved having Daddy home and so did I.  These are just a few pics of our days during the first week.

First Days Home

So excited to welcome home his little brother.

He wanted to hold him right away.  He is an awesome big brother to both Avery and Elliot.

Elliot this is Linus.

Mommy's helper.

Noah has a hat, Avery has a hat, so we have to make sure Elliot has a hat too.
Well it has been about a month since E was born and he is doing great.  I will post more on that after his one month checkup which is early next week, but for now I want to discuss how great Avery and Noah did with the transition of welcoming a new little guy into our house.  I was very pleasantly surprised at how easy they took him in.  Noah loves to help and watches out for him in the sweetest way.  When Elliot starts crying Noah is the first one to rush to him to put the noonie in his mouth.  Avery isn't very intested in Elliot just yet, but she hasn't been one bit jealous either.  She will pat him, and try to burp him.  Every time she sees him she just hollers out "Baby."  She has a hard time saying his name, but she is getting a little better all the time.
