One Month Checkup

Avery had her one month checkup last week and Dr. Gulino said she looked perfect. She weighs 10 lb 10 oz, and is 22 inches long. Her head is 15 inches around and all of her stats are in the 75th percentile. I was interested to see how much she had grown, but also to see how big her head is, since Noah's is always in the 90th percentile. She had to get a shot which she didn't like. Our future drama queen showed herself and she cried for about 20 minutes after the shot. The only comparison I have is Noah who still only cries for about 1o seconds after his shots. Girl vs boy, I guess.

She is our little princess and is such a sweet baby, but when she doesn't like something she is very loud. She is eating 5 oz, every 4 hours and is still getting up twice a night, much to Mommy and Daddy's dismay. She is liking her baths more and more all the time. She is also getting easier to entertain. She likes to lay in her gym or on her blanket and just look around. She is easy to get a smile from, but can easily change to a scream in an instant. She is a little nosy thing and likes to see what is going on all around. If you are holding her, she likes to be facing out but when she is tired she is still a snuggler which I love. She is a good little baby and all three of us are glad she is part of our world.

Once we got home and she ate, she stopped crying.

Checking out that hand.

Avery

Here are some pictures of our sweet princess. I realized that I didn't have very many of her in previous posts so she and I had a photo session tonight. She is getting so big and is a very good baby.

Every time she is in her play gym Noah has to crawl in there too. Today he was explaining what each of the animals was.

This would have been the best picture if the dumb giraffe would not have been over Noah's head. Of course I couldn't come close to getting one this good again.

Playgroup Christmas party

Yesterday the ladies in our playgroup had a cookie exchange. We also had a little Christmas party for the kids. They all wore their Christmas PJs and decorated cookies. Once again, as the pictures prove, Noah did not participate in much decorating but in lots of eating. Every time I looked up at him all day he had food in his mouth. At least he had fun.

Oh looks can be deceiving. I did all the "decorating" while he ate.

Ahh, proof.

Avery Ann's first playgroup. She did great. She layed on the blanket pretty much the whole time. She slept a little but I think she enjoyed the noise and chaos.

What a cute little mess.

Bake Off

The women on Eric's side of the family have a fun tradition of getting together once a year around Christmas and baking all weekend. I have been a couple of times, but usually have to miss because of Eric's work Christmas party. This year, they did it a couple of weeks earlier, but I thought I would have to miss again because I wasn't ready to go overnight with Avery, especially by myself. Instead Eric and I packed the kids up and made a day trip to Alexandria to surprise everyone.

Noah had a great time playing with all his cousins, and an even better time playing on Aunt Dana's monstrous play equipment in her back yard. He didn't want to come inside all day.

Noah and cousin Karoline on the double swing.
Fun with cousins Klaire and Karoline and Gammy.

He took a break from playing to decorate a gingerbread man. Well, mostly he ate the candy and icing while Eric and I decorated it.

Guilty of eating more that decorating.

This is the final product.

Daddy helping him decorate.

Me and my boy.
Avery was with us, despite the lack of picture of her. She just slept in someone's arms the whole day, which is just her cup of tea right now.

Santa Claus

Noah definitely knows who Santa is, and what he does. If you ask him what Santa is going to bring him, he says toys, a flashlight and a super computer. He can point out Santa Claus whenever we see him. When I aksed him if he wanted to go and sit on Santa's lap; he said yes. So I packed up both kids and went to the mall to see Santa. We waited about half an hour in line, and when we got close he started crying, but only because he wanted to hurry and sit on his lap. I knew once he got there he wasn't going to be as excited. This stone face expression is what we got, and he wouldn't look at Santa for even one second. I suppose I should be glad he didn't cry.

Avery on the other hand didn't even wake up. When Noah was little Santa wouldn't give him back and just kept talking to him.

As I looked back on our Santa picture from last year, he had this exact same expression on his face. I am fully expecting a screaming picture next year from one of them.

At least Santa gave him a present.

Decorating the Tree

Noah has shown just enough interest in the Christmas tree. He likes to look at it, and he only plays with one ornament. It is a plastic picture of Raleigh from when Raleigh was our only child. Noah helped decorate a little bit and would tell me where he wanted to put the ornaments that he couldn't reach. I am actually really proud of him, because I thought he would be all in the tree and we would have to tell him constantly to move away. Aside from that one ornament, he doesn't fool with it at all.

This is what he does when you tell him to say "cheese." He doesn't get the smile part yet.

Hanging his football ornament.
Getting help.

Avery helped too.
When we first pulled the tree out of the attic, he said "Momma that is a Christmas Cree". It made us laugh and think back to last year when he called it a "cccchhhhh".

Super Duper Computer

Noah's newest obsession is a cartoon on PBSkids called "Super Why." It is a cute cartoon about some storybook characters who solve problems by jumping into books and changing stories. They use a "super duper computer" to collect letters that will give them the answer to their problem. Noah now loves Eric and I's computers and wants to play on them all the time. We play games on fisherprice.com and on sesamestreet.org, and have to set a timer so we can get him off of them. He is constantly asking to play on Momma's super duper compeeter. He even thinks Santa Claus is going to bring him some toys, a flashlight and a super duper computer. I sure hope Santa gets the memo.

With the power to read, we can solve any problem.

I am Thankful For...

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and hope you all did too. We have so much to be thankful for and thank God everyday for our many many blessings. It is very easy to think of all the things that we would like to change everyday. But with so many blessings in our household lately, we are trying to realize all of the wonderful things in our lives and appreciate them all. Things like...

Brother, sister love.

A wonderful Daddy for my two children.

Two beautiful, healthy children.

Playtime.

The freedom to express our opions.

Beautiful babies.

Smiles and happy times.

Those are just to name a few.

Just some pics...

Eric and I were in the kitchen and I heard him talking. So I came around the corner and Noah was just talking away to Avery.

I have this same picture of Noah and Eric and it is still one of my favorites so I had to get one of Eric and his girl.
