Counting and Coloring

At 20 months Noah is amazing me everyday. He seems to learn something new every single day, even if it is just a new word. Yesterday''s new words were yogurt (yagya) and glasses (blasses). Also yesterday he started doing all the hand motions to "Isty Bitsy Spider. " He is full of energy. He loves to run and play ball with Daddy (Did-dee). He loves to do his puzzles, and stack his blocks. He is the love of my life and is turning into a little boy right in front of my eyes.

What amazes me most is he knows all of his numbers from 1-10 by sight and can even count to ten. He needs a little help with this because he wants to start at the number 4, but once you prod him along to 4, he can do the rest by himself. He recognizes and can say about half his letters when you point to them. He can point to his colors when you ask them where they are, but if you ask him what color something is, he will always say green (geen).

I am thoroughly entertained and amazed by him everyday and wonder how he picks this stuff up. We read a lot and have read a lot of counting books since he was little, but I had no idea he would be able to count to ten at 19 months old. I guess kids these age really are little sponges.

We have also spent a lot of time "coloring" these days. Well, coloring might be an overstatement. He enjoys it for a little while, then like to play with the colors, play with the buckles on his booster seat, and then play with his sticker book. His favorite character right now is Handy Manny (ninny), and so he has Manny color pages, where he loves to "color Manny's hand"(col ninny's ha) or Manny's shoe. (col ninny's foo).

Taking his coloring seriously for a bit.

All right, I have been doing this for about 3 minutes. I am...

...all done (da-da), let me dump all my colors out....

...put them back and repeat.

Reading Chair

Yesterday Noah pulled himself up into the big chair with a book. It takes him so much effort to get up there, and he looked like he wanted to settle in for a while and read in peace and quiet. Since he only brought one book with him, I put a couple more in the chair with him, so he wouldn't have to work so hard when he was done with the first book. He stayed in that chair a good half hour, just quietly reading his book. Being a reader myself, I was just so proud.

Birthday Parties

Saturday we went to two birthday parties, both of which Noah had a great time. The first party was for our playgroup friend, Devin. Devin turned 2, and had his party at "The Little Gym," which is just as the name implies, a gym for little guys. Noah had an absolute blast. There were mats, and ramps and stairs everywhere for him to climb on. They blew up a "jump-jump," set out about 100 balls, blew bubbles and sang songs. He was just running everywhere, having the time of his life. Of course, in all Noah's excitement, I forgot to get any pictures of him with the birthday boy. Happy Birthday Devin and thanks for inviting us to your party!!

He was saying "Da-da" or all done. It looks like he is smiling, but he wasn't having the best time on the jump-jump.

Someone fun must have been on the other side.

Oh, I forgot to mention the hula hoops. The older kids didn't stand a chance hula-hooping because Noah kept trying to take their hoops.

Going up the ramp. Then he would turn around and run down.

So much fun.
Our next party was for Sam. It was his first birthday, so we went to join the Proctor's at Ms. Jackie's house to celebrate his first year. Noah had a blast again, playing with Anna and Sam.
Ms. Jackie's house is on a golf course, and there was no one golfing, so Noah wore himself out yet again, running all over the place. Up and down the hills, into the sand and then he would do it all over again. This baby slept like a log on Saturday night. Happy Birthday Sam!!!

I didn't have my camara while we were outside on the golf course, so this is one of the only pics that I did take at this party.

Sam absolutely loved his birthday cake.
