We went for our first "checkup" yesterday and Noah is not yet ready to come out. He is head down which is good, but still floating around in there. I haven't dilated at all yet, which is no shocker. Dr. said everything looks good though. Heartbeat is still strong.
On the homefront we are all ready. All the clothes are washed, everything is put together that he will need at first. Finished up some shopping yesterday with Mom and now we wait.
I still feel good. I am not miserable, just a little uncomfortable so I am OK with the news he gave me. I would rather him cook for a few more weeks anyway, and be strong when he comes out.
Doc said he could induce at 39 weeks if I am totally miserable, so our little boy could be here in as little as three weeks. Hard to believe.

After the Storm
We made it through the storm, praise the Lord, but we lost our power. On Saturday before the storm hit we made the quick decision to buy a generator just in case. Thank goodness we did because we wouldn't have survived 6 days of no lights and AC without it. We also had a window air conditioner hooked up in our bedroom and fans in the den that all helped to keep us cool. The generator also saved all the food in our refrigerator and deep freezer.
Gettting gas for it was tricky though, because none of the gas stations had power. We were beginning to run out on Wednesday, so Eric stood in line for 2 hours to get us gas. He also ran all over town looking for that window AC, and couldn't find one. Luckily, we had some friends coming in from Lake Charles, and Eric's dad went and got us a unit and gave it to them to bring to us. He also gave us 15 gallons of gas. Thank you so much Poppy, because without you Noah would have been really hot and uncomforable. I am very lucky to have some great men in my life to take good care of me, and make sure I am comfortable in this 33rd week of pregnancy.

ALL HAIL THE GENERATOR!!!!

Night #1, Monday night, a romantic hamburger dinner.

Raleigh was hot too.

Night #2 of no electricity, fish fry with the neighbors.

Happy 30th Birthday to me. This birthday definitely will be one to remember. Wednesday some friends came from Lake Charles with a chain saw to help us cut our mess, and start hauling it to the street. What you don't see is me, 7 months pregnant, on my birthday hauling limbs to the street. I think I am definitely a trooper.

Our beautiful trees, are now just trash. :(

Eric cooking my birthday dinner, green beans in a chafing dish with sterno flame.

They hung on as long as they could. Now they weep.

Eric's parents came in from Lake Charles on Friday to help us clean up. They also brought us some groceries, since grocery stores were slow opening and those that were open were cleaned out. They also brought Noah some gifts from the baby shower that was supposed to be in LC but got canceled due to this stupid storm.

Night #5, Friday, we found an open hamburger place, and had another candle light dinner. This night the weather was actually pretty cool and we got to eat outside.

He doesn't even like bananas. I think the heat and no lights is finally getting to him.

Snapped it right in half.

Same tree, different view.

Another tree got snapped, just not as far down the trunk.
By Saturday, we had lights and AC and we very grateful. While it wasn't an adventure that I would want to repeat, I am grateful for all the friends, family and neighbors that we had. We all came together and helped each other. As lights were coming on around town, many people were calling and offering their AC, lights and a hot shower. After seeing pictures of things around town, we were very lucky that the damage we sustained wasn't much worse. We just give thanks that we have power now, and pray that Hurricane Ike stays far away from us.

During Gustav
Here is my best imitation of one of the those crazy hurricane hunters. I stood in our front doorway and took a video across the street during the storm. I took it when it started getting bad, once the wind got at its worst, I wasn't opening any doors. The back yard is what was really taking a beating but I wasn't going to go out there either because I would have had to go out of the carport, and I am just not that crazy.

Almost needed Noah's Ark
Well Noah survived his first hurricane and hopefully his last. After a very long week without power we finally have lights. Yipee. I didn't know what to do first, but ended up cleaning my house which was starting to smell after a week without power. I took many pictures of our Gustav adventure and will post them soon. We made out OK. We had a couple of trees down, and will need a new roof because of shingle damage, but we were safe. We are SO happy to have electricity, because they were telling us it was going to be another 2 weeks. That would have been miserable. Everyone PRAY hard that Ike doesn't come this way, Baton Rouge took a hard hit and can't handle another one.
